Honing machine transport to Slovakia: precision under cover
For a customer in Krauthausen near Eisenach, Speedlog transported a precision honing machine to Dolný Kubín in Slovakia. A key requirement was that the machine remain fully covered by the trailer's closed tarpaulin throughout the journey.
Weighing 15.5 tonnes and measuring 530 × 295 × 265 cm, the honing machine required careful vehicle selection. In addition to its excess width, the specified protection against moisture had to be taken into account.
A width-adjustable mega trailer for the sensitive machine
To meet this requirement, the dispatch team selected a width-adjustable mega trailer. This type of semi-trailer allows moisture-sensitive, overwidth cargo to be transported under cover.
It provided the required loading width while keeping the machine fully enclosed during transport.
“When transporting sensitive precision machinery, weight and dimensions are only part of the picture. The key is to choose a transport solution that also provides the required protection throughout the journey.”

An additional curtainsider for the accessories
The shipment included extensive accessories alongside the honing machine. These required an additional curtainsider trailer.
The transport solution therefore comprised two vehicles: the width-adjustable mega trailer for the precision machine and a separate curtainsider for its accessories.
High-precision gears made in Dolný Kubín
The recipient in Dolný Kubín is a production site belonging to a company with worldwide operations. The honing machine is used there to machine high-precision gears.
These gears are used in vehicle engines, transmissions and control systems. The project illustrates how closely the choice of transport equipment is linked to the requirements of the cargo.
