Measuring 22.80 metres and weighing nine tonnes, a double-girder bridge travelled from Beverungen to Lithuania with Speedlog. Commissioned by Hegla GmbH & Co. KG, the transport delivered a component for a glass production facility to the Trakai district.
A long load bound for Lithuania
The destination was Trakų r. sav., approximately 30 kilometres west of Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius. The recipient was a glass manufacturer specialising in insulating glass.
The particular challenge of this shipment was the length of the cargo. At 22.80 metres, the double-girder bridge required a suitable transport vehicle. A telescopic semi-trailer was selected to accommodate the long component.
“For a transport of this length, the choice of vehicle and the permits must align. Together, they provide the basis for delivery on schedule.”
– Grigo SImsek
Crossing borders with a 28-metre vehicle combination
With the double-girder bridge loaded, the complete vehicle combination measured 28 metres. The necessary special permits for this transport length were granted for the countries involved.
This established the requirements for the cross-border abnormal load transport. The nine-tonne component travelled from Beverungen to its recipient in Lithuania.
Delivered to the glass manufacturer on schedule
The double-girder bridge arrived at the glass manufacturer on time. Using a suitable semi-trailer and the required permits, Speedlog successfully completed the transport of this exceptionally long industrial component.
